When you hear the word Jesus, what do you think?
Everybody has an opinion on Jesus, some say he was a `prophet’, others say he was `Good man’, while others call him `Lord and King’, yet for some the word `Jesus’ is just a swear word!
Do you know that Jesus was an historical figure as provable as many other people in history. Jesus has a place in history. For nearly two billion people throughout the world he is worshipped as Jesus the Son of God. Their experiences have convinced them that through nature, the Bible, through prayer, through encounters with the Holy Spirit, that Jesus is our way to encounter the Creator of the universe. We learn about Jesus by reading the Bible, particularly the New Testament and we meet him directly in our spiritual experiences.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the hope for Humanity. That in his death and resurrection there is forgiveness for our wrong doings; then comes healing and restoration from brokenness, purpose for living today, and hope for our future. This is available and accessible to all who put their trust in Him. How amazing and good is that!
The Bible is our guide and our reference point and the book of John from the Bible is a very good place to start. Eg:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” John 3:16 – Do you want to be loved?
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 – We have a guide.
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 Have you experienced Jesus?
This is not the end of the journey but only the beginning. Scripture tells us to “repent and believe” (Mark 1:15) and that “all who call on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Acts 2:21) It is not about being perfect, but it is all about being in an honest and close relation with our spiritual Creator.
